The Physiotherapy studies are conducted in accordance with the Act on the Profession of a Physiotherapist. The curriculum has been developed on the basis of the latest trends and standards, as set on 26 July 2018 by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, and takes into account the guidelines of the World Confederation of Physiotherapy (WCPT).

The aim of the studies is to prepare graduates for the profession of a physiotherapist by enabling them to acquire knowledge and skills necessary to develop, maintain and restore fitness and capacity in people of different ages, lost or reduced mobility as a result of illness or injury.

The benefits of graduating from Physiotherapy

In addition, the aim of the studies is to enable the students to acquire knowledge in the theory, methodology and practice of physiotherapy, diagnostic skills and to perform physical therapy, massage, and kinesitherapy procedures, basic manual therapy techniques, and the use of orthopaedic appliances. The programme is intended to enable the students to reach physical fitness level necessary to correctly demonstrate and carry out kinesitherapy procedures in patients with different conditions and disabilities. In terms of social competence, the studies are intended to give the opportunity to realise individual work with patients and to cooperate in a therapeutic team.

Teaching Staff

The Physiotherapy teaching staff is composed of academic teachers, mainly from prestigious universities in Poznań and Szczecin, e.g. from the University of Physical Education, Poznań University of Medical Sciences, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, University of Szczecin and practitioners, i.e. physiotherapists employed in health centres or having their own practice. Most of the major classes as well as clinical and practical classes are taught by medical specialists in medical rehabilitation, physicians in balneoclimatology and physical medicine and masters of physiotherapy employed in hospitals and rehabilitation centres.

Practical classes carried out during the course of study constitute a significant part of all classes in the curriculum. The curriculum is based on a large number of hours of practical placement in, among others, hospitals, clinics and private treatment centres allowing to gain the necessary work experience already during the studies. As a result, our graduates find jobs not only in Poland, but also in Germany, UK, and the USA, among others.

Physiotherapy graduates have extended knowledge and skills necessary to carry out functional diagnostic examinations and to plan, implement and control the process of rehabilitation, thus being fully prepared for further academic development. Graduates are prepared to practice as a physiotherapist as well as to run their own physiotherapy practice.
