Curriculum

The launch of the Cosmetology studies at the College of Education and Therapy in Poznań and introduction of specialised workshops and seminars to the curriculum are a response to the changing demands of the labour market. The demand for specialists in cosmetics and health and beauty care is growing in Poland. The beauty industry has recently become one of the most dynamic industries in Poland and in the world. The number of beauty salons, wellness salons and fitness clubs is constantly increasing. Their emergence is a response to the increasing interest in this type of services.

The treatments that people undergo are characterised by a much higher degree of difficulty than in the past. In addition to popular treatments, most salons offer specialised treatments that require specialist knowledge, certified by diplomas. Professionals caring for the beauty and health of others must now have a thorough medical knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biology, dermatology and modern-age diseases.

Practical placement – 480 hours - 17 ECTS ×

Students complete 480 hours of practical placement during their two-year full-time and part-time Master's Studies.

1^st semester – Practical placement I – 80 hours
2^nd semester – Practical placement II – 240 hours
3^rd semester – Practical placement III – 80 hours
4^th semester – Practical placement IV – 80 hours

A graduate is able to:

Assess the toxicity of drugs and cosmetics depending on their type, dose and method of application
Design cosmetic formulations and prepare cosmetic preparations and determine their intended use and sensory properties.
Differentiate between the active substances in: nutricosmetics and cosmetic products, their origin and their effect on tissues; discuss INCI composition.
Perform diagnostics on smooth and hairy skin using various diagnostic devices.
Recognise immediate life-threatening conditions for the patient in the cosmetology practice.
Prepare patients' skin condition for cosmetology and aesthetic medicine procedures.
Differentiate between skin lesions, its defects and cooperate with specialists in various medical fields.
Use stress management strategies in cosmetology practice.
Use high-tech cosmetic and laboratory equipment, and determine its safety and effectiveness in use.
Perform manual lymphatic drainage in anti-oedema therapies.
Implement selected soft tissue therapy techniques for cosmetological and trichological procedures.
Design an algorithm of personalised care and correction of the client's skin defects in the office and at home.
Keep records (treatment record, photographic documentation, protocols) and comply with the provisions of the GDPR.
Speak a foreign language at the level of B2+ (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages requirement).
Work as part of a team; adopt common objectives for action; take on the role of a team leader, in particular for the chosen specialisation module.
Undertake activities to promote health in the community.
Interact in the planning and execution of research tasks in the field of cosmetology, perform basic statistical analyses on their own.
Use IT tools for data acquisition, analysis and selection.
Analyse errors and draw correct conclusions.
Make use of scientific databases on issues in the fields of science relevant to cosmetology.
Make use of scientific literature in Polish and foreign language.
